CSIRO Materials Science & Engineering

CSIRO Materials Science and Engineering (MS&E) is Australia's major textile and fibre research centre. CSIRO MS&E invents, develops and commercialises technologies for new and improved products and processes, quality control, and environmental safety at every stage of the wool, cotton and textile processing pipelines. It is at the forefront of developments of advanced materials particularly in the areas of biomedical and electroactive fibres.

The interest in biotechnology within CSIRO MS&E is growing. This type of work supports the move towards new, value added uses of fibres. Advanced materials and biotechnology are both areas of strategic interest to CSIRO. Advanced Materials and biotechnology are recognised as core technology platforms that support many of the CSIRO's research activities.
